Abstract:
Provided is a means having exceptional abrasion resistance of a recording medium after printing, exceptional re-dispersion of ink, and little effect on the durability of the components of a device, while inhibiting an increase in size of the device. A controller controls a conveying speed by a first conveying roller 60 and a second conveying roller 62 so that, at a position facing a heater 35, the integrated amount of heat received from the heater 35 per unit area of a sheet S is within the range from 0.7 J/cm2 to 2.9 J/cm2. The ink contains a resin dispersion colorant, resin fine particles, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water. The water-soluble organic solvent is such that: a water-soluble organic solvent for which the saturated vapor pressure at 20°C is within the range of 0.03-2.20 hPa, inclusive, is contained in an amount of 10-40 mass% relative to the total amount of the ink; a water-soluble organic solvent for which the saturated vapor pressure at 20°C is greater than 2.20 hPa is not contained in an amount of 3 mass% or greater relative to the total amount of the ink; and a water-soluble organic solvent for which the saturated vapor pressure at 20°C is less than 0.03 hPa is not contained in an amount of 10 mass% or greater relative to the total amount of the ink.
