Abstract:
The present invention makes it possible to keep the inside of a head cap damp without generating a difference in pressure between the inside and the outside of the head cap in a state in which a print head is covered by the head cap.
An ink jet recording apparatus in which a head cap is arranged in a non-recording region and a nozzle arrangement surface of a print head is covered by the head cap in the non-recording region so that a space formed by the nozzle arrangement surface of the print head and a containing part of the head cap can be sealed is provided with an elongated conduit having one end side thereof communicating with the containing part of the head cap and the other end side thereof communicating with outside air. The conduit is provided with an opening/closing valve for shutting off the conduit and opening the conduit to the outside air. The containing part of the head cap is caused to communicate with the outside air via the elongated conduit for maintaining humidity, in a state in which the nozzle arrangement surface of the print head is covered by the head cap.
