Abstract:
Disclosed is an ink jet recording apparatus which has high conveying accuracy and can record appropriately irrespective of the types of recording media. The ink jet recording apparatus comprises suction holes for sucking a recording medium and a flat plate-shaped platen in which grooves are formed in such a manner that the plurality of suction holes are involved therein. The ink jet recording apparatus further comprises a platen cover to cover the platen. The frictional resistance between the platen cover and the recording medium is different from the frictional resistance between the platen and the recording medium. The platen cover comprises holes which are smaller than the openings of the grooves of the platen.
