Abstract:
Disclosed are an inkjet printer and a printing method, in which the influence of air resistance on ink drops discharged from a nozzle of an inkjet head is appropriately suppressed by a method suitable for a breathable medium such as fabric, thereby appropriately performing, for example, high-resolution printing, printing with an increased gap length, and the like.
Specifically disclosed is an inkjet printer (10) for performing printing on a breathable medium (50) through which air passes from a surface to be printed to a back surface, the inkjet printer being provided with an inkjet head (12) for discharging ink drops toward the medium (50), and a back surface-side member (14) having a hollow portion that faces and is open to the back surface of the medium (50), wherein the inkjet heat (12) comprises a nozzle for discharging the ink drops toward the medium (50), and an air stream jetting portion for jetting an air stream at least part of which passes through the flight path of the ink drops and, together with the ink drops, goes to the medium (50), and the back surface-side member (14) catches the air stream which passes from the surface to the printed to the back surface of the medium (50) by the hollow portion.
