Abstract:
The problem addressed by the present invention is to provide an inkjet printer and a printing method that suitably perform high-precision printing to printing subjects (50) having diverse shapes. As a solution, this inkjet printer (10), which prints by means of an inkjet method to a printing subject (50), is provided with: an inkjet head (12) that discharges ink droplets; a guide rail (102) that is a member that holds the inkjet head in a manner so as to face the printing subject (50) and that is a Y-direction-extending member that extends in a pre-set Y-direction; and an X-direction drive unit (26) that moves the guide rail (102) in the X-direction. During printing, the inkjet head (12) discharges ink droplets towards the printing subject (50) while moving along the guide rail (102), and the X-direction drive unit (26) has a ball spring (122), and moves the guide rail (102) in the X-direction in accordance with the amount of rotation of the ball spring (122).
