Abstract:
An inkjet printer is provided with a cap that prevents the drying of the nozzle of an inkjet head. The cap covers a recording head and is formed from a porous resin. A cap unit is provided with the cap and a spittoon that receives discharged ink. The recording head uses a wiper to wipe the nozzle surface and performs cleaning by discharging ink into the spittoon. After this cleaning, the nozzle surface is covered by the cap. The cap is prevented from becoming dirty with ink because the cap is placed on the nozzle surface when there is no ink adhering to said nozzle surface.
