Abstract:

There was the problem that when a jam occurred, it was not possible to cap the inkjet head, resulting in drying of the inkjet head and ink sticking fast to the nozzle surface, making cleaning difficult. In the present invention, by disposing a capping unit (12) and a wiping unit (18) on the two ends of a platen (2), moisture of the nozzle surface is retained by capping when the carriage (4) can be withdrawn to the capping unit (12)-side during a jam and by periodically wiping when the carriage is withdrawn to the side that has only the wiping unit (18).
