Abstract:
Provided is an inorganic fiber that suppresses effects on the human body and living environments, exhibits high biosolubility, and also exhibits excellent heat resistance as a constituent material for filter materials, sealing materials, and the like. The inorganic fiber is characterized by containing 30% by mass to less than 81% by mass by mass Al2O3, greater than 19% by mass to 65% by mass MgO, and 0 - 40% by mass SiO2 and the proportion of the Al2O3, MgO, and SiO2 content in the fiber as a whole being 98% by mass or greater.
