Abstract:
Provided are methods respectively for producing an inorganic fiber having high heat resistance, having a wide range of choices for a raw material, and having high productivity and an inorganic fiber product. An inorganic fiber characterized in that the total amount Q of a transition metal compound and SO3 is 0.5% by mass or more, the molar basicity P represented by the molar ratio of the sum total of CaO and MgO to the sum total of SiO2 and Al2O3, i.e., (mol% (CaO+MgO)/mol% (SiO2+Al2O3)), is 0.6 or more, and a requirement represented by formula (1): -3.3×P+5.1 ≦ Q is satisfied; and an inorganic fiber product containing the inorganic fiber.
