Abstract:
Provided by the present invention are an input detection protection circuit and an alternating current electrical ballast for a high-intensity discharge (HID) lamp, wherein the input detection protection circuit comprises: a power input loop, an input voltage acquisition loop, a relay pull-in loop, a power factor correction (PFC) circuit, and a microcomputer unit (MCU) chip. The input detection protection circuit of the present invention may provide protection against various abnormalities when an ultra high voltage is inputted, such as the phase of a grid input dropping, the wrong line being connected during installation, a momentary high surge voltage during power on and off, and continuous lightning pulses. The input detection protection circuit of the present invention acquires the voltage for charging a rear capacitor so as to effectively reduce the surge current and an impact according to a set internal pulled-in relay, while monitoring the input voltage; protection may be provided when voltage is ultra high and ultra low, and the relay is disconnected when an abnormality occurs so as to provide a standby current to the MCU by means of the PTC and indicate the abnormality.
