Abstract:

Provided is an input device in which no wiring is provided inside a rotation mechanism, whereby a simple configuration of the rotation mechanism is realized and the device can be reduced in size in the drive axis direction. An input device 10 comprises: a fixed portion 20; a rotating body 50 rotatably supported by the fixed portion 20; a rotation detection unit 30 detecting the rotation angle of the rotating body 20; a brake applying unit 60 applying a braking force to the rotating body 50; a torque applying unit 40 applying a drive torque to the rotating body 50; and a control unit 90 controlling the brake applying unit 60 and the torque applying unit 40, wherein the brake applying unit 60 includes a magnetorheological fluid 64, a brake applying coil 61 applying a magnetic field to the magnetorheological fluid 64, a shaft portion 62 having a braking torque changing according to the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid 64, and a transmission gear 63 that is provided on the shaft portion and engages with a gear (first gear 51) provided on the rotating body 50, and the shaft portion 62 is located outside of the rotating body 50 in the radial direction of the rotating body 50.
