Abstract:

An insert based on one mode of embodiment of the present invention is provided with an upper surface, a lower surface, a side surface and a cutting edge furnished with corner portions. The cutting edge comprises a first cutting edge located at a corner portion, a second cutting edge adjacent to the first cutting edge, a third cutting edge adjacent to the second cutting edge, and a fourth cutting edge adjacent to the third cutting edge. When viewed from the side, the third cutting edge and the fourth cutting edge are each in the shape of concave curved lines which face downward, and the radius of curvature of the fourth cutting edge is less than the radius of curvature of the third cutting edge.
