Abstract:
An insole (102) for an item of footwear is provided, the insole comprising an upper surface having a mid-portion (110) underlying the longitudinal arch of the foot of a user, the mid-portion (110) having a medial region (100), the medial region (120) of the mid-portion (110) of the upper surface having a first coefficient of friction, the remaining regions of the upper surface of the insole having a second coefficient of friction, the first coefficient of friction being greater than the second coefficient of friction. There is also provided an orthopaedic insole (102) for an item of footwear for a diabetic user, the insole (102) comprising a heel portion for underlying the heel of the foot of the user; and a mid portion(108) for underlying the longitudinal arch of the foot of the user; wherein the thickness of the mid portion (110) across the width of the longitudinal arch of the foot of the user is greater than the thickness of the heel portion (108).
