Abstract:
The present invention provides an instantaneous external short circuit-based power battery low-temperature self-heating system and method. Said system comprises a relay and a battery management system; the relay is controlled by the battery management system, provides an external short circuit environment for a power battery pack to be heated, and is in an open state under normal conditions; when said power battery pack needs the external short circuit environment, the relay is in a closed state; the battery management system controls said power battery pack to start heating or stop heating; the present invention first acquires duration of an external short circuit by means of an experimental method, controls the duration of a short circuit to be within a rational threshold range to ensure safety, and heats a battery using heat generated by a short circuit current caused by an external short circuit. Experiments show that said method achieves a low-temperature heating rate that is far higher than that of the existing battery thermal management systems. Moreover, said method is simple and easy to implement, and effectively solves the problems of reduced capacity and deteriorated working performance of a power battery of an electric vehicle when in an extremely cold environment.
