Abstract:
An instrument for improving a physiological function of the human body or the like having a heating part with the use of chemical energy wherein the heating part is brought into contact with the body surface via a sheet to thereby supply water vapor generated from the heating part. This instrument is capable of generating water vapor for 2 hours or longer. When the instrument is in contact with the body surface, the body surface temperature is elevated to 38oC or higher but lower than 42oC within 1 hour after the application of the instrument. The sheet to be located between the heating part of the instrument and the body surface has a function of controlling the air supply to the heating part of the instrument for improving physiological function and another function of transferring the heat from the instrument for improving physiological function to the body surface. The thickness of the sheet preferably ranges from 0.05 to 1.5 mm.
