Title:
INSTRUMENT PLATFORM, APPARATUS AND KIT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2004063001
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Disclosed is an instrument platform, particularly for use in deploying instruments (12) on the seabed. The instrument platform has a transport configuration and is reconfigurable to a landing configuration by operation of an actuator (36) due to the platform reaching a predetermined depth, and therefore pressure, in water. The actuator (36) contains a compressible volume, compression of the volume providing a force for reconfiguring the platform. The actuator has a threshold pressure above which it operates, that threshold pressure substantially corresponding to the hydrostatic pressure at a predetermined depth in water. Also disclosed is a kDisclosed is an instrument platform, particularly for use in deploying instruments (12) on the seabed. The actuator has a threshold pressure above which it operates, that threshold pressure substantially corresponding to the hydrostatic pressure at a predetermined depth in water. Also disclosed is a kit including the instrument platform deployment means for containing and deploying the instrument platform, e.g. from the air.
