Abstract:
An intake air volume control device preferably for use in controlling the idle speed of an engine such as for an automobile which enables the unique alteration of a load compensating intake air volume without being affected by the engine temperature and functions to provide an exact intake air volume originally required, said intake air volume control device comprising an STM valve (12) set on a bypass passage (11) for a throttle valve (8), a ROM (36) for storing opening data for setting the opening of said STM valve (12) which correspond to engine running conditions, a limiter (13) disposed in series with said STM valve (12) on said bypass passage (11) and whose opening varies in accordance with the engine temperature, target opening setting means (45, 46) for compensating for a target opening based on an engine temperature when setting a target opening based on an opening data obtained from said ROM (36) in accordance with engine running conditions, and an ISC driver (44) for regulating the opening of said STM valve (12) to a target opening obtained from said target opening setting means (45, 46).
