Abstract:
The present invention is provided with: a first intake port (7a) and second intake port (7b); first and second intake valves (9a, 9b); a first intake cam (21) for driving the first intake valve (9a); and a second intake cam (22) which has a larger working angle than the first intake cam (21) and which drives the second intake valve (9b) in such a manner that the second intake valve (9b) opens in an early stage of the intake stroke and closes at some point during the compression stroke. An opening/closing valve (14) which is disposed in the second intake port (7b) and which closes during low-speed rotation at a low load and opens in the other operating ranges is also provided. When the second intake valve (9b) is closed at some point during the compression stroke with the opening/closing valve (14) being in the closed state, the second intake valve (9b) and the opening/closing valve (14) form a pressure-accumulation chamber filled with compressed gas inside the second intake port (7b) between the second intake valve (9b) and the opening/closing valve (14). As a result, it is possible to supply compressed gas stored inside the intake port to a combustion chamber in an early stage of the intake stroke while achieving a reduction in engine size and suppressing manufacturing cost as much as possible.
