Description:
INTELLIGENT INFLATABLE BAG SYSTEM FOR ABSORBING COLLISION

SHOCK IN VEHICLES

The technical field to which the invention relates :

The invention relates to intelligent inflatable bag system for absorbing collision shock in vehicles preparing the absorber bags for driver in a way that it can ensure driver's absolute safety in collision moment according to ideal energy absorption by pre-determining the collision speed through intelligent and communicating systems in accidents and collisions that may occur and thus allowing to manufacture lightweight vehicles by enabling the required quantity of gas or liquid to be conveyed into the absorber bags.

State of Art :

Air bag is a protective system used mostly in automobiles, characterized in that; they are made from flexible material preventing passengers from getting hurt inflating through a gas or air by deploying immediately in collision moment. An air bag that is generally in use, can deploy in a shorter time than one tenth of a second and enables passenger to easily move and get out of car by deflating after few seconds.

Airbags generally used nowadays are made of thin nylon or yarn and are designed in a form of steering wheel and console-wrapped. There is a sensor in the front portion of automobile such that airbag functions in the systems used. The operating logic of the sensor informing airbag about the danger resulting from collision is that the sensor recognizes collision and discharges spark into the medium in which sodium azide compound exists, in order for airbag to inflate when vehicle contacts with a hard object that may cause an accident, contacting speed might be threshold speed or more than it. As a result of the chemical reaction, nitrogen decomposes, resulting in a gas with high volume. The resulting gas inflates airbag. In the state of art; weight of the vehicles in which air bag is used, increases more and more in order to ensure absolute safety in collision. The vehicles of which weights increase, cause fuel consumption and carbon emission to increase.

A semi-rigid airbags with hollow cells has been improved in the invention numbered US5454589 instead of normal airbags. it is needed to exist a collision in a required shock effect in order the airbags in question to function.

The invention numbered US5033569A describes the mounting of a shock absorber mechanism to vehicle so as to ensure a minimum damage in accidents. It is stated that it is provided for airbags to get outwardly out of vehicle body by automatically inflating.

As can be seen through examples, a heavy body activates in the event of collision and is used in the energy absorption. Therefore, quite heavy bodies are carried for accidents that may never occur, and more carbon emission and fuel consumption are realized. There are, nowadays, airbags for protecting passengers deploying in the event of collision, however it should be changed after its immediate deployment because it deploys depending on the speedy collision, it is hard to use in body for absorption and to optimize for energy absorption.

Objective of the invention:

Objective of the invention is to provide that lightweight vehicle is manufactured by absorbing collision energy. Another objective of the invention is to provide that collision angle and intensity of vehicle are pre-determined by means of systems in the vehicle such as lidar, radar and camera.

Another objective of the invention is to provide an ideal energy absorption by conveying and taking back in an appropriate speed and quantity the liquid or gas agents into/from the bags mounted to several portions of the body.

Another objective of the invention is to provide the re-usage of the bags by means of pressure adjustment system used.

Description of the invention

The invention is an inflatable shock absorber bag system, wherein it is comprised of an intelligent collision identifier system (100) determining calculation of the vehicle's accident possibility and the collision angle and intensity in the event of the inevitable accident, and bag position and pressure calculation system (200) deciding which one of the absorber bags mounted on the point of the vehicle providing protection and ideal absorbing to passengers is to inflate according to the need in the moment of collision and determining by means of calculations of inflating speed and quantity of absorbing bags through the liquid and gas agents required for inflating by taking into consideration the information on the collision angle and intensity coming from the intelligent collision identifier system (100), and a pressure adjustment system (300) providing the adjusting the inflating and deflating moments of the pressure occurred in the absorber bags by means of the calculation results coming from the bag position and pressure calculation system (200) .

Inflatable shock absorber bag system for intelligent collision identifier system (100) subject to the invention can provide a design of lightweight vehicle controlling energy absorbing, providing several functions for the absorber bags by means of the co-operation of the bag position and pressure calculation system (200) and the pressure adjustment system (300) .

Intelligent collision identifier system (100) in the intelligent vehicle can determine the speed of both the vehicle and the vehicles in the collision direction by means of lidar, cameras and radars .

Possible collision may be detected before the moment of the collision by calculating the information on the speed of the vehicles. If the vehicle computer determines that the collision is inevitable, the absorber computer is informed about the results coming from the calculation of the collision angle and speed carried out in few seconds just before collision.

The absorber computer calculates the required absorbing quantity so as to ideally absorb the energy that may occur in the moment of collision taking into consideration the body of the vehicle. In the result of this calculation, the information on which bag is inflated with how much pressure is conveyed to the pressure adjustment system (300) . Pressure can be obtained with liquid or/and gas agents.

Said calculation can be carried out through not only the systems in which the historical date is saved but also the computer in the vehicles or/and pre-prepared tables can be also used. The pressure adjustment system (300) ensures to convey the required quantity of gas or/and liquid into the absorber bags to protect passengers on the collision point by properly functioning in accordance with the calculations. Said absorber bags decrease also costs as they can be re-used after present collision situation .

The collision moment is identified by the intelligent collision identifier (100) . The system detects the time, intensity and direction of the collision. The bag position and pressure calculation system (200) uses the resulting calculations as data so as to decide which one of the absorber bags is to inflate and how much pressure there will be therein .

The bag position and pressure calculation system (200) varying in accordance with vehicle operates through the steps of carrying out multiplication analysis with finite elements during designing vehicle, obtaining the quantity of the energy absorption, transmitting the results obtained as a table to the system and then calculating them in the vehicles with interpolation or/and extrapolation.

The pressure adjustment system (300) adjusts the pressure in the absorbing bags relating the taken decision. In the end, the energy resulting from the collision and that may damage the driver and passengers is neutralized. The intelligent collision identifier system (100) provides the information on the collision's possibility, collision direction and collision intensity in the intelligent vehicles. By means of the information obtained, the calculated quantity of liquid or gas is conveyed, prior to collision, into the absorber bags made of untearable materials and positioned on the different areas of the body or vehicle through the bag position and pressure calculation system (200) . Inflatable shock absorber bag system absorbing ideally the energy ensures to discharge in an appropriate speed the liquid or gas conveyed by the pressure adjustment system (300) . The system subject to the invention ensures to decrease the more carbon emission and fuel consumption manufacturing lightweight vehicles.

In the end, inflatable shock absorber bag system ensures to manufacture nature friendly vehicles by providing lightweight vehicles as it provides the energy absorption through the collision direction and intensity instead of vehicle's weight. Furthermore, since it can pre-calculate the collision, it does not need an ignitor activating the system by igniting in the moment of collision.
