Abstract:
The inventions relate to measuring optical characteristics of substances and can be used for measuring the refractive index of a liquid or gas. The inventive interferometer comprises an optically conjugated light source, a reflecting mirror embodied in such a way that it is partially transparent for light radiation, a thin, partially transparent layer whose thickness is equal or less than $g(l)/2 and which is arranged on one of the surfaces of a V-shaped element, the other surface thereof being provided with said reflecting mirror in the form of a reflecting coating. Said interferometer also comprises a periodical system which contains photocells and is arranged behind the reflecting mirror, and a spectroanalyser. Said V-shaped element is embodied in the form of a cuvette filled with a liquid or gas. The angle ? between the opposite faces of said cuvette which are provided with the thin partially transparent layer and the reflection mirror, respectively, is defined according to the equation sin?=$g(l)/2dn, wherein $g(l) is a light wavelength, d is a period of interference fringes whose system is formed in the thin, partially transparent layer by the action of a standing light wave, n is a refraction index of a liquid or gas which fills the cuvette. In the second variant of the interferometer, said cuvette is embodied such that it is flow-thorough. Said invention makes it possible to carry out high accuracy measurements of the absolute value of a gas or liquid refraction index.
