Abstract:
A multifilament yarn of polypropylene terephthalate fibers which has a single-fiber fineness of 0.5-6.0 dtex and a total fineness of 30-180 dtex is used as a ground yarn (11) and a pile yarn (12) to knit a tricot gray fabric. Sinker loops (13) of the pile yarn in the fabric are raised and the fluff is evenly cut to form a cut pile. The resultant raised tricot pile fabric is spread and heated while stretching it in the course direction (C) to heat-set the fabric so as to result in a wale density of 30 W/25.4 mm or higher, a course density of 50 C/25.4 mm or higher, and a knit density, which is expressed as the product of the wale density and the course density, of 1,800-2,300 CxW/(25.4 mm)2. Thus, the latent stress which accumulated in the course of knitting in the ground yarn (11) constituting the needle loops (14) is relieved. The raised tricot pile fabric comprising polypropylene terephthalate fibers can be prevented from curling at the cut side and can be put to practical use as an interior automotive fabric friendly to the global environment.
