Abstract:
This control device is provided with 3 operation modes: a normal operation mode which is performed when fuel-cut conditions have not been established; a fuel-cut operation mode which is performed when the fuel-cut conditions have been established; and a cut-in delay operation mode which is performed after the fuel-cut conditions have been established, and before initiation of the fuel-cut operation mode. When performing the cut-in delay operation mode, the control device delays the ignition timing so as to be later than a basic ignition timing, and increases the effective compression ratio so as to be higher than the effective compression ratio in the normal operation mode under equal intake-air amount conditions.
