Abstract:

An internal combustion engine has a fuel supply system which has a fuel pump driving mechanism that limits the relative motion between a part of the mechanism contacting a plunger of the pump and the plunger. In one embodiment the fuel pump (10) has an eccentric shaft (112) whereon at least one bearing (114) having an inner race is disposed and an outer race is abutting an end of the plunger (92). In the other embodiment the fuel pump (12') has a lever (150) rotatably connected to a roller (152) so that the cam (168) moves the roller such that a first end of the lever moves the plunger (92).
