Title:
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IGNITION DEVICE AND IGNITION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/192325
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An energization time (TDWLMIN) for the energy suppression region is selected as the energization time for a primary coil (22a) when operating conditions, comprising the load and speed of an internal combustion engine (1), are in a prescribed low speed-high load region (energy suppression region (A)) in which occurrences of pre-ignition are possible, and an energization time (TDWL) during normal operations is selected for all other normal regions. The energization time (TDWL) during normal operations has the property of being shorter as the engine speed is higher, and, in a low speed region, an energization time that can fulfill the required discharge energy in the high exhaust recirculation region is provided. The energization time (TDWLMIN) for the energy suppression region (A) is constant regardless of the engine speed, is relatively short, and is set to a level so that the coil generated maximum voltage does not exceed the withstand voltage of a spark plug (9) even should there be no discharge due to pre-ignition.
