Abstract:
Provided is an internal combustion engine ignition device that can maintain stable combustion while suppressing an increase in the size of an ignition coil and an increase in cost. A small and low-cost ignition coil 113 is constituted by: a main primary coil 111a that causes interruption magnetic flux to be generated by interrupting a current after starting supply of electricity; a sub primary coil 111b that causes superimposition magnetic flux having the same direction as the interruption magnetic flux to be generated by supplying electricity after the generation of the interruption magnetic flux; and a secondary coil 112 in which discharge energy is generated by the actions of the interruption magnetic flux and the superimposition magnetic flux. An appropriate discharge pattern is realized in an internal combustion engine and stable combustion can be maintained in the internal combustion engine as a result of a configuration in which: the generation timing and duration of the superimposition magnetic flux are adjusted; a superimposition current sudden decrease suppressing means 14 softens sudden cutting of power supply to the sub primary coil 111b so as to gently reduce the superposition magnetic flux; and a secondary current I2 with which an ignition plug 2 can maintain a discharge is maintained for a long time.
