Abstract:
Provided is an internal combustion engine ignition device which is capable of detecting the wear state of an ignition plug without having a dedicated high-voltage component and capable of accurately estimating the replacement timing for the ignition plug. The internal combustion engine ignition device is characterized by comprising an ignition coil 11 including a primary coil 11a which generates a normal magnetic flux in the forward direction when energized by a primary current and generates an interrupted magnetic flux in the reverse direction when the primary current is interrupted and a secondary coil 11b which generates a high voltage when the magnetic flux generated in the primary coil 11a acts thereon, a switch unit 12 for switching between energization by and interruption of the primary current, and an ignition control unit 30 for controlling the switching operation of the switch unit 12 so as to cause the ignition plug 40 to generate a spark discharge, said ignition control unit 30 having a primary coil voltage detection unit 31 for detecting a primary voltage generated in the primary coil 11a and a wear detection unit 32 for detecting wear in the discharge electrode of the ignition plug 40 by using the primary voltage at the time when the interrupted magnetic flux is acting on the secondary coil 11b.
