Title:
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IGNITION PERIOD CONTROL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/010022
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is an internal combustion engine ignition period control device whereby knock learning can be appropriately carried out by performing knock learning adapted to the engine combustion behaviour. The inventor discovered that a knock suppression effect utilising the ignition lagging angle could be achieved by the following principle: "when the combustion period is shifted towards the lagging angle side, the cylinder volume in the combustion period is increased, and as a result elevation of the unburned gas temperature and pressure is suppressed." The ignition period control device according to the invention makes it possible to perform knock learning in a novel fashion, based on this principle. This ignition period control device learns the "cylinder volume percentage". The cylinder volume percentage is a parameter that is determined from the amount of change of the cylinder volume. Even when the engine operating condition changes, the learned ignition period that is learned by knock control means can be set to a suitable value by making this period change in a manner reflecting this learned cylinder volume percentage.
