Abstract:
A piston (1) comprises a pair of grooves (5a, 5b) along an outer wall surface (47) of an apron part (4) on the rear surface side of a crown part (2). Skirt sections of the piston (1) are formed such that the widths thereof along the piston circumferential direction gradually narrow toward the lower side in the piston axial direction. Grooves (5) are positioned further to the outside in the piston radial direction the lower the position in the piston axial direction, such that the grooves are inclined, overall, with respect to the central axis of the piston. Due to this configuration, oil drag resistance between the skirt sections and the cylinder wall surface can be suppressed, and the weight of the piston can be reduced.
