Abstract:
This valve timing control device is provided with: a plurality of gear portions 1a of which a base end portion 1b is joined integrally to an outer circumferential surface 8a of a housing main body, and around which is wound a timing chain 42 which transmits a rotational force of a crankshaft; a vane member 7 which is secured to one end portion 2a of a camshaft 2 and is provided with freedom to rotate relatively inside the housing main body, and which includes, on the outer periphery of a rotor 15, four vanes 16a to 16d which separate a retard oil chamber from an advance oil chamber; and a built-up portion 40 in which an outer surface 40a between one side surface 1c of the base end portion of each gear portion on at least a front plate 11 side thereof and the outer peripheral surface of the housing main body is inclined downward toward the front plate side. This built-up portion makes it possible to increase the rigidity of the base end portions of the gear portions and improve the durability of the housing main body.
