Abstract:
The present subject matter relates to direct fuel injection-type spark-ignition internal combustion engine modified from a carburetor fed engine. The fuel injector (100) has an orifice, which is mounted within an injector sleeve (130) and has a fuel injector axis (145) along its centre. The central axes of the injector sleeve and the fuel injector are coaxial. The fuel stream (120) defines a cone angle a (135) and has a central axis (150). The central axis (150) of the fuel stream (120) forms a bent angle ß (140) with the fuel injector axis (145). The fuel injector (100) is capable of rotation along the injector sleeve axis (155) such that the orifice is capable of achieving a maximum rotational angle y (170), thereby spraying the fuel stream (120) directly into the combustion chamber without wetting walls of the cylinder head (115).
