Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the field of machine-tooling and more precisely relates to an internal combustion engine having an offset crankshaft-connecting rod mechanism. The purpose of this invention is to increase the efficiency factor of the engine. Said engine comprises a cylinder, a connecting rod and a crankshaft, wherein the rotation axis of the crankshaft is offset relative to the cylinder axis by a positive offset value. This offset value is chosen so as to minimise the absolute value of the total power losses due to the friction of the cylinder-piston cinematic pair during a complete operation cycle of the engine. The choice of an optimal offset value is derived from successive approximations.
