Title:
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/055555
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to an internal combustion engine (1) of a motor vehicle, comprising a waste heat recovery device designed as a Clausius-Rankine cycle (2) and which can be supplied via a heat exchanger (4) with heat from an exhaust gas pipe (8), an exhaust gas recirculation system and/or a cooling circuit (11) of the internal combustion engine (1). It is an essential feature of the invention that an adsorption cooler (6'), an absorption cooler or a steam jet cooler (6") is provided, which is incorporated into the Clausius-Rankine cycle (2) and which supports or replaces cooling of a condenser (7) in the Clausius-Rankine cycle (2). Due to the improved condensation performance of the Clausius-Rankine cycle, said cycle can convert large quantities of heat into kinetic or electrical power even with high load. An improvement in the overall efficiency can thus be achieved. The cooling module can thus also be relieved of load by the waste heat of the Rankine cycle.
