Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an internal combustion engine that collects CO2 in a gas and can improve the efficiency of converting the collected CO2 into fuel. This internal combustion engine: comprises a CO2 capturing material that is disposed in a channel for the CO2-containing gas and that captures the CO2 in the gas, an H2 supply source, and a fuel synthesis catalyst that causes CO2 desorbed from the CO2 capturing material and H2 obtained from the H2 supply source to react to synthesize fuel with a molecular structure that contains carbon and hydrogen; and includes a water removal device that is disposed as a stage previous to the fuel synthesis catalyst and that removes water in the gas that has been desorbed from the CO2 capturing material.
