Abstract:
An internal combustion engine (23) comprises: a crankshaft (32) rotatably supported on a crank case (31); a cylinder block (33) which is joined to the crank case (31), arranged higher than an imaginary horizontal plane (HP) including a rotational axis (Xc) of the crankshaft (32), and divides a plurality of cylinders arranged in a V formation so as to intersect with each other at a bank angle; an object to be detected that rotates integrally with the crankshaft (32); and a detection sensor (36) which is attached from the outer side to a position lower than the imaginary horizontal plane (HP) on a front surface (31a) of the travel breeze-bearing crank case (31), is made to face the trajectory of the object to be detected, and generates a pulse signal in accordance with the movement of the object to be detected. Thereby provided is an arrangement structure for a detection sensor that can detect the angular speed of a crankshaft with high accuracy in a "V-type" internal combustion engine.
