Abstract:

The invention relates to antipyrens, i.e. substances protecting organic materials against flaming and burning, in particular to intumescent carbon-forming antipyrens. Said antipyrens are expandable as affected by heat and flame, thereby increasing the volume thereof and forming a solid foamed mass which exhibits heat-protection properties with respect to underlying material. The one-component systems of the intumescent carbon-forming antipyrens based on salts of polyoxicarbon acids which are produced by oxidation of carbohydrates are also disclosed.
