Abstract:
Disclosed is an ion-exchange membrane comprising an ion-exchange layer, which comprises a cationic polymer and/or an anionic polymer, and a support layer, characterized in that said ion-exchange layer is formed on the support layer by printing. This ion-exchange membrane is highly tolerant to organic stains, has a low membrane resistance and enables efficient and stable performance of electrodialysis over a long period of time. By using a charge-mosaic layer, which comprises a domain of said cationic polymer and a domain of said anionic polymer, as the ion-exchange layer, a charge-mosaic membrane having a highly selective electrolyte-permeability and a high mechanical strength can be obtained.
