Abstract:
The present invention achieves an ion generator that can efficiently release ions into a target space and an air cleaning device provided with the same. The ion generator is provided with: a discharge means that includes a discharge electrode and induction electrodes; repulsion electrodes; and a voltage application means. The ion generator is characterized by: the repulsion electrodes being disposed on a side opposite to the direction in which ions generated by the discharge means are conveyed; the repulsion electrodes, in a period of three-fourths or more of the period of discharge by the discharge means, approaching a grounded state by means of the voltage application means; and during non-discharge periods, a voltage with the same polarity as the ions being applied to the repulsion electrodes.
