Abstract:
An ion wind generating unit (2) comprises a discharging portion (4) having a discharge electrode (6), and an opposing electrode portion (5) having a pair of opposing electrode plates (9). The discharge portion (4) and the opposing electrode portion (5) are so connected with each other as to form a gap (15) therebetween. The discharging portion (4) is provided with the discharge electrode (6) which is held at a negatively high potential, and the opposing electrode portion (5) is provided with an air discharge preventing electrode (11) which is held at the same ground potential as the electrode plates (9). When corona discharge is caused, negatively-charged particles are generated, and the particles are accelerated by the pair of electrode plates (9), thereby generating an ion wind.
