Title:
IONICALLY DISSOCIATIVE FUNCTIONAL MOLECULES, PROCESSES FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF, IONIC CONDUCTORS, AND ELECTROCHEMICAL EQUIPMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/012239
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided are ionically dissociative functional molecules which are thermally and chemically stable under the conditions required for electrochemical equipment and useful as the material of protonic conductors of fuel cells; processes for the production thereof; ionic conductors; and electrochemical equipment. In the proton-dissociating functional molecule shown in Fig. 1A, about ten proton-dissociating sulfonic acid groups are bonded to C60 fullerene through difluoromethylene (-CF2-) groups. In the proton-dissociating functional molecule shown in Fig. 1B, fullerene molecules are connected to each other through connecting -CF2SO2NHSO2CF2- groups in three dimensions, and not only sulfonic acid groups but also sulfonimide (-SO2NHSO2-) groups and sulfonamide (-SO2NH2) groups are contained in the connected molecules. These molecules are synthesized by the introduction of difluoro(fluorosulfonyl)methyl (-CF2SO2F) groups into fullerene, imidation of the groups, and hydrolysis of the resulting product.
