Abstract:
An iron-based powder blend for use in powder metallurgy, which comprises an atomized alloy iron powder, 0.01 to 1.0 % in terms of B of one or more of compounds containing B, 1 to 10 % of Ni powder, 1 to 6 % of Cu powder and 1.3 to 3.0 % of graphite powder, each percentage being based on the total weight of the above materials; and 0.5 to 2.0 parts by weight of a lubricant based on 100 parts of the total weight of said materials, wherein the atomized alloy iron powder has the composition in wt %: Mn: 0.03 to 1.00 %, Cr: 0.5 to 4.0 %, S: 0.03 to 0.3 %, balance: Fe and inevitable impurities. The iron-based powder blend can be used for producing a sintered compact which has good sliding characteristics being small in variation and excellent impact resistance, and also capability of being reformed.
