Abstract:
[Solution] The present invention is a composite oxide brown pigment represented by the compositional formula xFe2O3-yAl2O3-zTiO2, the composite oxide brown pigment including a pseudobrookite-type crystal structure. x, y, and z fulfill the following relationships: x + y + z = 1, 0.55 ≤ x ≤ 0.9、 0 ≤ y ≤ 0.4, and 0.05 ≤ z ≤ 0.35. [Effect] It is possible to provide a novel brown composite oxide pigment that: can be used in a wide range of applications, such as road paving materials, construction materials such as tiles, concrete, and mortar, paints, plastic materials, and cosmetics; can resolve problems of conventional brown pigments such as being magnetic and lacking dispersibility in plastics; and does not contain toxic elements.
