Abstract:
An isocyanate polymerization catalyst, manufacturing method thereof, and a method using the catalyst to manufacture a polyisocyanate comprising an isocyanurate group. The catalyst is a di-quaternary ammonium ion of a carboxylic acid salt. The structure of the catalyst comprises a heterocyclic aromatic residue comprising a hydroxy group. The catalyst is highly active. Only a small quantity of the catalyst is required for isocyanate polymerization. A polyisocyanate manufactured using the invention has a color number of 25 Hazen or less, a monomer content of 0.5 wt% or less, a high isocyanurate content, and low viscosity.
