An item usage control method, a device, a system and an item. The item usage control method comprises: providing an item in an available state (S1100), the item having a unique item identifier; when an event indicating that the item is used by a user occurs, starting a timer to begin a countdown so as to wait for an item usage authentication result based on the item identifier and a user identifier corresponding to the user which uses the item, the user identifier being used to uniquely identify the user (S1200); when the item usage authentication result is not obtained or authentication fails before the countdown ends, changing the item from the available state to a disabled state (S1300). The method allows a user to use an item before performing an authentication operation. Moreover, while the user uses the item, item usage authentication is completed by using a manner unperceived by the user, thereby improving user experience.
