The present invention relates to a jaw clutch which can be used in mechanisms for connecting and driving shafts in a cinematic assembly where relative sliding displacements are prevented at angular speeds of a large variety (up to 2000 rev/min). The clutch comprises a coupling mechanism as well as fixation members made in the shape of spring-loaded rods (5), wherein said rods are arranged on supports (14) which are attached to the driving half of the clutch and which comprise safety devices with chamfering thereon. The safety devices provide for selectivity during the operation of the fixation members. The contact point D between the safety device and the spring-loaded rod (5) in a static mode represents the point of unstable equilibrium. However, since the spring force and the force of inertia act on the rod (5), the unstable equilibrium becomes stable. The spring-loaded rod (5) is further capable of rotation and, when contacting the safety device, will thus roll about the same. When the pressure on the safety device is minimal, the contact point becomes a line. The spring-loaded rods co-operate with cams formed on an insert resting on the driven half of the clutch.
