Abstract:
A joint lubricant and a manufacturing method thereof. The joint lubricant is a covalently linked O-carboxymethyl chitosan hydrogel. The hydrogel has a gel time of 0.5-10 minutes, a water content of 70% or higher, and a water retention rate of 65% or higher. The hydrogel is manufactured by performing a gelling reaction on a glutaraldehyde and an O-carboxymethyl chitosan with a degree of deacetylation of greater than 25%. The covalently linked O-carboxymethyl chitosan hydrogel is biocompatible, can be used as a joint lubricant, is applicable in a local joint injection, can retain a specific volume and flexibility within a joint for a specific period of time, and can promote cartilage tissue repair.
