Abstract:
A journal bearing (10) comprising: a rotary shaft (1) that is capable of rotating about an axis line (O) which extends horizontally; a bearing bottom half section (11) which slidably supports the outer peripheral surface (1A) of the rotary shaft (1) from underneath; a bearing top half section (12) which supports the upper half of the outer peripheral surface (1A) of the rotary shaft (1); and a lubricating oil supply section (13) which supplies a lubricating oil between the rotary shaft (1) and the bearing bottom half section (11) and bearing top half section (12). The bearing top half section (12) has: a bearing body section (18) which opposes the outer peripheral surface of the upper half of the rotary shaft (1) with an interval therebetween; a land section (21) which extends circumferentially and, by protruding radially inwards from the inner peripheral surface of the bearing body section (18), forms a sliding surface (21A) that slides with respect to the rotary shaft (1); and a guide section (22) which guides the lubricating oil to the sliding surface (21A) of the land section (21).
