Abstract:
The present invention allows a key to be made available only to an authorized person, without requiring external connection by a network. A key box 1 is provided with a lid 5 in an opening 4 on the front side of a housing 2 having a key accommodation space 3 therein, the lid 5 pivoting around a shaft 6 on the lower end side. The housing 2 includes therein: a cord-like object 9 that has a proximal end side 9a connected to the interior of the housing 2 and has a distal end side 9b at which a key holder 10 for holding a key X is provided; a holding means 7 for holding the lid 5 in a closed state in which the lid 5 covers the opening 4; an opening operation means 8 for releasing the holding of the lid 5 by the holding means 7 to open the lid 5; a signal communication unit 11; a power supply 12; and a controller 13. The housing 2 is provided with a start switch 14. When the start switch 14 is operated and the signal communication unit 11 receives a preset authentication signal from an authentication means carried by a user, the controller 13 issues an opening operation command to the opening operation means 8 to open the lid 5, so that the key X accommodated in the key accommodation space 3 can be taken out to the outside through the opening 4.
