Abstract:
A decoding apparatus and method is provided for decoding, for example, internal two-track security locks. The apparatus may include a controllable sensing mechanism to accurately sense unlocking positions for tumbler(s) in the internal two-track lock. The decoding apparatus may include an operational piece, including a code sensing mechanism, the operational piece being insertable into a lock to be decoded. The decoding apparatus may further include a first positioning mechanism coupled to the sensing mechanism, to enable movement of the sensing mechanism between plurality of positions along a first direction, and a second positioning mechanism coupled to the sensing mechanism, to enable movement of the sensing mechanism between a plurality of positions along a first direction, the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction, and wherein the first and the second positioning mechanisms are to enable sensing of unlocking positions of one or more tumblers in the lock.
