Abstract:
When forming a branching portion that branches, in the middle of a knitting width, a knitted fabric formed using a flat knitting machine having a plurality of yarn feeds above a needle bed, into right and left, first and second knitted areas, and while performing a course knitting on the knitted fabric prior to the branching of the knitted fabric, a pair of right and left increase loops are formed on the rear side of the knitted fabric across the branching portion, and two set of knitted loops a pair of right and left knitted loops on the front side of the knitted fabric across the branching portion and the newly formed pair of right and left increase loops are allowed to cross beyond the branching portion boundary and overlap each other, whereby the branching portion can be reinforced without sacrifice in appearance.
