Abstract:
A laboratory apparatus (11), in particular for shaking and/or mixing substances, comprises: a base unit (13) which comprises a drive device (29); and a pivot unit (15) which is connected, by means of a bearing element (19), to the base unit such that it can pivot about axes which are perpendicular to a central axis Z of the base unit and has a peripheral rolling portion (25). The drive device comprises an arrangement of magnetic elements (33) on the inner side of a rolling surface (25) of the base unit and comprises a control device (37) which is designed to control the arrangement of magnet elements for generating a magnetic field extending peripherally on the outer side of the rolling portion along a closed path in order to drive, by means of magnetic attraction and/or repulsion, the rolling portion of the pivot unit such that the pivot unit rolls along the specified path.
